This high-quality removal tool set is designed to make it easy to take swaged (staked) spherical bearings out of their housings. Each set includes a cutter with a matching mandrel and a set of press arbors with a matching mandrel.
Simply insert the mandrel in the bearing and slip the cutter over the mandrel (supporting the assembly with one of the press arbors as shown is optional). Turn the cutting tool by hand to remove material from the bearing race. When the race has been cut sufficiently thin (just before breaking through and contacting the housing), remove the cutter and mandrel and install the removal dies. Use a vise or arbor press to drive the bearing out.These tools are specifically designed to fit certain SAE-sized "wide series" spherical bearings with a staking groove on either side of the outer race (Aurora AWC-xTG or PWB-xTG, Pegasus 3070-xG, NHBB ABWT-xV or ADWxV, or any other brand meeting Mil Spec MS14103). When done properly, the housing will be left undamaged and ready to accept a new bearing. Made in USA.Note: This removal method is only for use on spherical bearings with a grooved outer race which hase been swaged into a housing. It is not intended to remove plain spherical bearings held in place by a circlip or snap ring.
