A new, fully charged 3lb SPA Extreme mechanical fire suppression bottle. This is the bottle only, for swapping out an expired or discharged bottle on a car that already has the SPA Extreme system plumbed in. For a complete system with nozzles and plumbing, order SPAEX-SFI3-M.
The bottle is filled with 3M Novec 1230, a next-generation halon replacement, and pressurized with nitrogen. Novec is non-toxic, so it is safe for the driver in a closed cockpit. It is stored as a liquid and discharges as a gas, so there is nothing to clean up afterwards. It is also non-corrosive and non-conductive (safe on electronics, electric and hybrid vehicles, and lithium battery fires), resistant to alcohol fuels such as methanol, and ozone friendly.
SFI 17.2 requires the system to be inspected and recertified every 2 years, with a maximum life of 6 years. Most sanctioning bodies, including SCCA, will not accept a bottle past its service date. If the gauge reads low and there are no leaks, the bottle may just need a nitrogen top-up.
